Pay Rate: $23 to $26.51/Hr

Duration: 6 Months

Location: Tulsa, OK

Shift - 1st Shift

This role is with Infosoft, Inc., a global leader in the production of specialty materials.

Position Overview:

The Hazardous Chemical Testing Technician plays a critical role in the production and evaluation of asphalt mixtures. This position also involves assisting in the daily operations and management of the materials storage facility.

  • Receive training on aggregate and asphalt mixture evaluation until proficiency is achieved in accordance with ASTM/AASHTO testing standards.
  • Conduct aggregate assessments and perform data analysis.
  • Execute precise asphalt mixture preparation and evaluation.
  • Carry out mechanical assessments of bituminous samples in the Pavement Performance Testing Laboratory.
  • Obtain and maintain Hazardous Material Shipping Certification.
  • Perform accurate asphalt binder evaluations.
  • Conduct extraction and binder recovery processes.
  • Possess knowledge of the components, operational characteristics, and limitations of engineering systems relevant to the specialization.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of test outcomes and regulate access to this information.
  • Ensure test results are readily available to technical staff.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency of testing methodologies and laboratory practices.
  • Improve testing processes and equipment through mechanical, electrical, or other enhancements.
  • Engage in light mechanical duties and maintenance of laboratory apparatus.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associate degree or higher in a science or engineering-related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a relevant industry is advantageous.

Personal Attributes:

  • Comprehensive understanding of laboratory safety protocols, chemical hazards, and other measures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Preference for working with mix design methodologies.
  • Strong project management skills and self-motivation.
  • Proficient in computer applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to interpret and adhere to ASTM/AASHTO testing procedures to generate reliable data.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Work is conducted in a laboratory setting.
  • The role requires physical activity including routine lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, crouching, and prolonged standing.
  • Must be capable of lifting at least 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to utilize and wear protective equipment as necessary.

Organizational Structure:

  • This position reports to the Lab Supervisor.
  • This role does not have direct reports.
