The Practical Nurse at Bryan Health plays a crucial role in supporting physicians during examinations and procedures, addressing the medical needs of patients with various cardiac health issues in a professional, confidential, and compassionate manner. This position is essential in coordinating patient flow, managing phone inquiries, overseeing lab work, and facilitating nurse visits to ensure high-quality patient care and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold the mission, vision, and core values of Bryan Health.
- Deliver nursing and patient care activities to promote both physical and psychological well-being.
- Screen patients to gather necessary information and maintain updated Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Prepare patients for examinations by collecting histories and vital signs, ensuring accurate documentation in the EHR for consulting physicians.
- Register and maintain timely, complete patient information in EHR and charts to guarantee precise patient care.
- Ensure exam rooms are sanitized and well-stocked with essential equipment and supplies.
- Assist physicians during patient examinations by preparing necessary equipment.
- Conduct electrocardiograms as required.
- Administer medications as directed, monitoring and documenting patient responses and reporting findings to the healthcare provider.
- Educate patients and their families on diagnostic procedures, medications, post-treatment care, nutrition, and overall health maintenance.
- Understand diagnostic criteria for ordering tests and procedures to facilitate reimbursement.
- Assist with pre-authorizations, information release requests, and other administrative tasks.
- Respond to and refer incoming patient treatment-related inquiries.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Manage work hours, supplies, and clinical costs responsibly, adhering to budgetary guidelines.
- Participate in meetings and committees as assigned.
- Perform additional tasks as delegated by physicians and management.
- May provide assistance at various clinic locations as needed.
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required. Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Nebraska is mandatory. A minimum of one year of nursing experience is required, with a preference for clinic nursing. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required.
