Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced LVN to join our Dermatology team at the University of California. As a Senior LVN, you will play a critical role in providing direct patient care to a diverse patient population within our multiple Dermatology practices.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care, working with faculty physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, residents, medical students, nursing staff, patient services staff, and ancillary personnel.
- Report directly to the RN Supervisor and/or Clinic Manager and assist with day-to-day patient care, inbasket messages, incoming/outgoing phone interactions, relaying physician instructions, medication prior authorization, topical numbing, providing patient instructions and/or education, and procedure assistance.
- Ability to float within Dermatology locations.
- Active license issued by the State of CA Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners with Intravenous Therapy and Blood Withdrawal Certification.
- Possession of active CPR BLS from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Knowledge of dermatologic terminology and disease conditions sufficient to communicate treatment status with patients and their families, medical faculty and staff, and other health professionals.
- Ability to keep a running inventory and knowledge of UCLA forms, patient admissions, etc.
- Knowledge of surgical dressing applications, lasers, and surgical instruments.
- Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction, perform under the stress of frequent interruptions and/or distractions, and analyze information, problem situations, practices, or procedures to define the problem or objective and formulate logical and objective conclusions.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, work as part of a team, and foster a stimulating, accepting learning environment.
- Ability to speak on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and explain medical treatment procedures, read medical documents, and write concise, logical, grammatically correct analytical reports to explain patient's progress and charting.
