Position Overview:

The satisfaction of our guests at Rick Erwin's Clemson is directly linked to the quality and presentation of our culinary offerings. The Line Cook plays a vital role in the daily food preparation within their designated area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and sets up the cooking station in accordance with restaurant standards.
  • Prepares a diverse range of proteins, seafood, vegetables, and other ingredients using various cooking methods including grilling, frying, and baking, while minimizing product waste.
  • Adheres to proper sanitary practices in food handling and preparation.
  • Executes food preparation tasks as instructed, ensuring efficiency and cleanliness.
  • Follows established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines as directed by the Corporate Chef and Executive Chef.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use and maintenance of all equipment within the assigned cooking station.
  • Contributes to the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including storage areas and walk-in coolers; ensures proper handling and rotation of all food products.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned by the Corporate Chef, Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or General Manager.
  • Properly closes the kitchen at the end of service, adhering to the closing checklist and assisting colleagues as needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. A culinary degree is advantageous but not mandatory.

Experience:

A minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking is required, with at least 6 months in a similar role preferred. A solid understanding of professional cooking techniques and knife skills is essential.

Certifications:

ServeSafe certification is preferred but not essential.

Requirements:

  • Effective communication skills with management and kitchen staff.
  • Physical ability to reach, bend, stoop, and lift items weighing up to 40 pounds regularly.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods (up to 9 hours).
  • Ability to follow printed recipes and plating guidelines accurately.
  • Commitment to maintaining personal hygiene in line with health department and company standards.
  • Dependability and consistent attendance are crucial.
  • Integrity, a strong work ethic, and reliable transportation are necessary.
  • Willingness to work evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to thrive in a hot, humid, and noisy kitchen environment.
  • Capacity to remain composed and perform well under pressure.
