Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team at Indiana University Health. As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will play a critical role in performing diagnostic sleep studies and providing supervision to other staff members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patient equipment for testing and interview patients to determine sleep disorder issues and explain pre and post-testing procedures.
  • Perform and document testing per lab protocols, monitoring patients throughout testing and intervening as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues.
  • Assist with scoring sleep studies and generating reports, as well as preparing, calibrating, repairing, and maintaining equipment required for testing.
  • Determine and report needed repairs or replacements, and maintain credentials as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist through the BRPT or ABSM or Registered Respiratory Therapist through the NRCA or NBRC or Certified Respiratory Therapist through the NBRC.
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support certification through the AHA is required, and other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • A Registered Respiratory Therapist through the NRCA or NBRC or Certified Respiratory Therapist through the NBRC or Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or certified by ABSM as a Registered Sleep Technologist is preferred.
  • A successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with emphasis in polysomnography or a polysomnography program of no less than 1 year duration associated with a state licensed and/or nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technician is required.
  • A High School Diploma/GED is required, and an Associate Degree is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience is required.
