Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team at Indiana University Health. As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will play a critical role in performing diagnostic sleep studies and providing supervision to other staff members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Diagnostic Sleep Studies: Perform basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
  • Supervise Staff: Provide guidance and oversight to other staff members, ensuring they meet the highest standards of patient care.
  • Prepare Patient Equipment: Prepare and calibrate equipment for testing, ensuring it is in good working order.
  • Interview Patients: Conduct thorough interviews with patients to determine sleep disorder issues and explain pre and post-testing procedures.
  • Monitor Patient Care: Monitor patients throughout testing, intervening as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues.
  • Document Testing Results: Accurately document testing results and reports, ensuring compliance with lab protocols.
  • Maintain Equipment: Prepare, calibrate, repair, and maintain equipment required for testing, ensuring it is in good working order.
  • Report Needed Repairs: Determine and report needed repairs or replacements, ensuring minimal downtime.
Requirements
  • Certifications: Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Education: Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with emphasis in polysomnography, or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technician.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience required.
