Job Overview

The Financial Controller plays a crucial role in managing the financial operations of the organization, serving as the primary resource for financial strategy and oversight. This position encompasses financial planning and analysis, cost management, and the control of profit and loss statements, ensuring adherence to all established Policies and Procedures as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Guide and mentor the finance team by fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and accountability.
  • Operational Oversight: Supervise the daily functions of the Accounting and Finance departments, ensuring effective management of company assets, including inventory and fixed assets.
  • Monthly Closing: Ensure timely completion of monthly closing processes and adherence to internal and corporate deadlines.
  • Reporting: Generate comprehensive financial reports that analyze key metrics such as sales, earnings, and cash flow, providing insights based on historical and projected data.
  • Budget Monitoring: Regularly review and manage approved budgets, offering support and guidance to management as necessary.
  • Audit Management: Coordinate financial audits with both internal and external auditors, recommending improvements to procedures as needed.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Accounting and Finance, with a preference for candidates with prior Controller experience.
  • Strong expertise in product cost accounting and familiarity with plant accounting systems, including proficiency in ERP systems and Excel.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and a proven track record of enhancing internal controls.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and a solid understanding of financial issues within a manufacturing context.
  • Ability to interpret financial data and prepare detailed reports and forecasts.
  • A proactive and strategic thinker with effective problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to set team objectives and ensure accountability.
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Team-oriented mindset with advanced Excel proficiency; experience with Paylocity is a plus.
  • Minimal travel requirements, approximately 10%.
