Rush University Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Pathologists' Assistant to join our team in the Department of Pathology. As a Pathologists' Assistant, you will work under the direction of a pathologist to perform gross examinations, dissections, and dictation of both simple and complex specimens.
Responsibilities- Perform gross examinations and dissections of specimens under the direction of a pathologist.
- Dictate detailed descriptions of specimens, including any notable findings or abnormalities.
- Assist pathologists with complex dissections and examinations as needed.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all specimens and examinations.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure efficient and accurate processing of specimens.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a clinical laboratory or pathology setting highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with pathologists, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.
This is a 13-week contract position. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment, with frequent exposure to biological specimens and potential allergens.
