Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at RUSH University Medical Center. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing laboratory testing and reporting, as well as maintaining quality control and preventative maintenance procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory testing and reporting, including quality control and preventative maintenance procedures
  • Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow established laboratory procedures
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment and processes, and document actions taken
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, and adhere to safety protocols
  • Meet turnaround time expectations by prioritizing and organizing workload
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay current with industry advancements
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in laboratory science, biological science, chemistry, or education/work experience meeting the qualifications of high complexity testing personnel as defined by CLIA 42 CFR
  • Certification from a nationally recognized certifying agency, such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
  • At least 5 contiguous years of laboratory-related experience, or an associate's degree and/or education/work experience qualifications as defined by CLIA 42 CFR, and MLT or other certification
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, often stressful, computerized environment. You will be exposed to potentially infectious and hazardous materials, and will be required to lift up to 20 pounds and perform repetitive motions.
