Employee Classification

Salary based on qualifications: $19-$22/hr + tips

About You

You are a proactive, skilled, and seasoned leader in the culinary field. Whether your background is in casual dining, pizza, or upscale cuisine, you are committed to delivering exceptional food consistently. Your attention to detail and dedication to maintaining high standards for your team are paramount. You are a solution-oriented individual, eager to navigate the challenges of a new operation, refine processes, and collaboratively enhance the kitchen environment. You thrive in a small team setting where your contributions are impactful.

About Us

We are a community-driven, small-batch brewing company with a rich 15-year history, operating one production facility and two distinctive taprooms. We have found our niche in the craft brewing landscape, producing between 5,000 and 10,000 Beer-Barrels (BBLs) annually, with a significant portion sold directly to consumers through our taprooms. Historically, we have partnered with food trucks for our culinary offerings, but with the recent appointment of our Hospitality Director, we are excited to launch our own internal food service operation for the first time.

Our core mission is to create and share great beer experiences, guided by our values of community, craftsmanship, teaching and learning, and authenticity. Every team member at Oakshire is dedicated to fulfilling our mission through actions that reflect our values.

Position Overview

The *Taprooms and Integrated Food Service* are vital to the success of our retail and wholesale operations. The Oakshire Beer Hall, which opened in 2019, previously operated with a contracted food vendor until October 2021. After evaluating various food service options, we have decided to self-operate a fast-casual food concept and are in the process of finalizing our plans. Candidates who proceed to the interview stage will receive detailed information about our vision.

The Culinary Operations Manager will report directly to the Hospitality Director, collaborating to launch the kitchen at the Oakshire Beer Hall, train staff, and establish expectations for food quality and consistency. Ongoing responsibilities include managing daily kitchen operations, ensuring adequate inventory, maintaining food quality, adhering to health regulations, ensuring cleanliness, and achieving budgetary and performance targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Exhibit full competence in and execute the highest standards of kitchen operations.
  • Oversee the maintenance of kitchen facilities, equipment, and tools.
  • Ensure the creation and service of high-quality food consistently by adhering to item specifications and presentation standards.
  • In collaboration with the General Manager, recruit, hire, train, schedule, and retain exceptional kitchen staff.
  • Communicate effectively with all team members, kitchen partners, and leadership.
  • Maintain quality relationships with food vendors, ensuring timely orders and clear communication.
  • Manage inventory and procurement for food items and kitchen supplies.

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Lead by example, modeling the required skills and traits for kitchen staff.
  • Passion for developing and serving quality food as part of a team.
  • Strong interest and knowledge of the craft beer industry.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to excellence in food and beverage service.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Capacity to manage competing priorities effectively while focusing on customer experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least three years of experience in a restaurant or bar kitchen.
  • A minimum of one year in a leadership role within a kitchen environment.
  • Experience with POS systems.
  • Oregon Food Handlers Certification.
  • OLCC Servers Permit.

Physical Requirements

Employees must be able to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach, climb, talk, and hear. The role requires the ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds and handle kegs weighing up to 165 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
