About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel - Labor & Employment to join our team at Brink's. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in providing expert advice and guidance on labor and employment law matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide trusted in-house legal advice on labor and employment matters, including pre-litigation and litigation support.
  • Manage designated employment matters, including strategy development and risk analysis, with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate with internal counsel and business stakeholders, and actively engage with and manage outside counsel.
  • Assist with regulatory investigations and other government enforcement matters.
  • Actively review company activities and legislative/regulatory developments to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Advise on day-to-day employment matters, providing legal advice to internal departments, including Operations and HR, to proactively identify and mitigate risk.
  • Perform special projects assigned by the NORTAM General Counsel or Assistant General Counsel - Litigation.
  • Appear for the company at mediations, hearings, trials, etc., as necessary.
  • Direct paralegal and other legal support staff, as necessary.
  • Help the legal team provide regular and structured reporting and analysis of open or threatened litigation matters to internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing company policies and HR-related communications.
  • Assist in preparing and delivering training on legal issues.
Requirements
  • Requires an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university and a J.D. (doctor of jurisprudence) degree from an accredited law school.
  • At least 6 years' experience in employment law, including demonstrated experience with handling litigation tasks (such as brief writing, motion practice, and courtroom appearances).
  • Experience working as in-house counsel or in a mid-to-large size law firm.
  • Other competencies and characteristics for success include prioritizing matters, exercising professional judgment, and remaining proactive in a fast-paced environment.
