Position Summary:

This role is designed for pilots who are in the process of meeting the necessary qualifications for Air Evac Line Pilot positions. Once the required standards are achieved, the Maintenance/Ferry Pilot will transition into a line role.

The pilot will assist maintenance teams at Regional Maintenance Offices (RMO) by performing pre-flight checks, run-ups, operational check flights (OCFs), and flying aircraft as needed (14CFR91 flights only; 14CFR135 flights are not permitted).

The pilot ensures that all aircraft comply with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and are in optimal condition before being deployed. Responsibilities include ferrying aircraft between RMOs, bases, and other locations, with a focus on minimizing downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-flight inspections and communicate findings to maintenance personnel.
  • Perform run-ups and relay any issues to maintenance teams.
  • Execute Operational Check Flights (OCFs) and report findings accordingly.
  • Maintain engineering documentation as required.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff to address mechanical concerns.
  • Transport aircraft between RMO and field locations, as well as other necessary sites.
  • Ferry additional aircraft as needed.
  • Ensure all flights adhere to 14CFR91 regulations, GOM, and company policies.
  • Note: 14CFR135 flights are strictly prohibited.

Qualifications:

Credentials/Certificates:

  • FAA Rotorcraft-Helicopter Commercial certificate
  • FAA Rotorcraft-Helicopter Instrument rating
  • Current Second Class medical certificate
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • 1500 hours of total flight time
  • 1200 hours of helicopter flight time
  • 1000 hours of pilot-in-command helicopter time
  • 250 hours of turbine flight time
  • 50 hours of night flight time, either unaided or using NVG
