Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and assess educational programs aimed at adults in the field of Family and Consumer Sciences.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders, acting as a vital educational resource for local Family and Consumer Sciences initiatives.
  • Engage with and provide guidance to leaders of organized Family and Consumer Sciences groups, including community education clubs.
  • Report to the County Extension Director while staying informed on the latest research and developments in Family and Consumer Sciences.
  • Lead a diverse range of activities that cater to the needs of all eligible participants, ensuring inclusivity regardless of background.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Sciences or a related field such as nutrition, culinary arts, child and family studies, consumer economics, human ecology, or community health.
  • Applicants should possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale, or a GPA of 3.0 during their final undergraduate year, or hold a Master's degree. Preference will be given to candidates with a Master's degree and/or relevant work experience.
  • A complete application package must include a letter of interest, a resume or curriculum vitae, and official or unofficial transcripts indicating conferred degrees.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position is jointly funded by the University of Tennessee and local government, ensuring competitive compensation and benefits.

Benefits include group health and life insurance, state retirement plans, workers' compensation, paid sick and annual leave, and various programs offered by the University of Tennessee, including generous holiday leave and longevity pay after three years of service.
