About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Plumbing Designer/Engineer to join our team at EXP. As a key member of our Plumbing Design/Engineering team, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring staff on all aspects of plumbing engineering and design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor staff on all aspects of plumbing engineering and design
  • Review code-related items with engineers to ensure compliance with North Carolina Plumbing Code, IPC, UPC, and CPC
  • Perform at a responsible charge level, meeting EXP design and quality levels
  • Ability to QC work of plumbing engineering staff
  • Create narratives (basis of design) for SD work
  • Perform front-end loading of plumbing systems
  • Develop and monitor plumbing work plans in conjunction with PM
  • Write specification sections
  • Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours
  • Write studies and reports for plumbing systems when needed on projects
  • Understand and apply engineering principles and fundamentals
  • Be able to troubleshoot construction issues on site with the team
  • Assist the Project Manager with developing fees, add services, and overseeing the project design
Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in plumbing engineering and design
  • Experience in the design of healthcare facilities and associated requirements is a must
  • Medical Gas design experience is highly desirable
  • Experience in the science & technology industry is strongly desirable
  • Strong communication skills and ability to direct other individuals in the design of plumbing systems
  • Knowledgeable with Revit
  • Ability to regularly interface with the client through regular attendance at project meetings, performing existing condition site surveys, and job site walks to troubleshoot construction issues
