Position Overview:
The selected candidate will engage in the following responsibilities: optical design, analysis, and testing of intricate optical configurations within Electro-Optical (EO) systems, with a focus on military applications such as fire control, missile guidance, and laser technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct research and development for optical system concepts, layouts, and detailed designs, utilizing expertise in geometrical and physical optics.
2. Implement research findings to achieve optimal outcomes in hardware performance.
3. Initiate and support manufacturing processes related to optics, focusing on producibility and cost efficiency.
4. Maintain and update the overall optical specifications and tolerance analyses as necessary.

Basic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Optical Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of lens materials, coatings, and fabrication techniques.
- Experience in lens and window assembly, as well as performance evaluation of optical systems.
- Proven ability to collaborate within multi-disciplinary engineering teams, including mechanical, opto-mechanical, electrical, thermal, structural, aerodynamic, software, system, and test engineers.
- Familiarity with optical design software and tools.
- Background in IR missile seeker development, covering design, assembly, integration, and various testing phases.
- Understanding of cryo-cooled and uncooled detector technologies and gimbal system design.
- Proficiency in thermal, structural, and aerodynamic modeling and simulation.
- Experience with multi-physics analysis tools.

Security Clearance Statement:
This role necessitates a government security clearance; candidates must be U.S. Citizens for consideration.

Work Environment:
The selected individual will have a hybrid work schedule, combining remote work with time spent at a designated facility.

Work Schedule:
Lockheed Martin offers various flexible work schedules, including a 4x10 hour format, allowing for three days off each week.
