Position Overview
The Lastinger Center for Learning serves as a pioneering educational innovation hub within the College of Education, dedicated to establishing equitable educational frameworks that enhance teaching and learning in early childhood and K-12 settings. The Center emphasizes critical milestones such as kindergarten readiness, 3rd grade reading proficiency, and algebra skills, which are essential indicators of future academic success. Operating at the intersection of research, practice, and policy, the Center aims to create sustainable systems that utilize educational technologies and improve the application of evidence-based practices.
Research Responsibilities
- Support the Principal Investigator in overseeing all early learning research initiatives.
- Lead or assist in crafting comprehensive research manuals and protocols, evaluating their feasibility, and implementing necessary modifications.
- Coordinate evaluation and data collection efforts with project investigators and staff, including scheduling, qualitative interviews, online survey management, data entry, cleaning, and preparation for analysis.
- Educate partners and staff on study protocols and ensure adherence.
- Draft, edit, and review regulatory documents, including IRB submissions and consent forms.
- Maintain necessary training for compliance with IRB, university, and federal regulations.
- Foster collaborative relationships with project leaders and team members across various projects.
- Conduct site visits as required.
- Engage in research-related conferences and meetings to cultivate professional relationships.
- Assist in participant recruitment and relationship management, coordinating study visits and providing necessary instructions.
- Contribute to the Research, Evaluation, and Data (RED) Committee to bolster the Center's research initiatives.
- Support grant-writing efforts to develop early childhood products and services.
- Collaborate with affiliate faculty to enhance research and development activities.
Subject-Matter Expertise & Content Development
- Conduct thorough literature reviews to guide the research and development of early learning products.
- Create and evaluate innovative content for professional learning products focused on child development, ensuring alignment with established standards.
- Design engaging learning activities that incorporate technology and best practices in early childhood education.
- Identify data collection opportunities to support research on early learning products and their impact on educators and caregivers.
- Contribute to the design, development, and evaluation of the Center's early learning product line.
Grant Management
- Prepare grant narratives, budgets, and supporting documentation.
- Negotiate and manage study contracts effectively.
Collaboration
- Work closely with research staff, students, and other team members to facilitate project success.
- Lead and organize research/project team meetings as necessary.
- Build and maintain a professional network with participants, investigators, and collaborators to ensure effective research partnerships.
Additional Responsibilities
Expected Salary:
$100,000-$110,000
Minimum Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in education with demonstrated research expertise.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in early learning environments.
- Knowledge of professional development for early childhood educators.
- Familiarity with data collection and management tools.
- Experience managing research projects in applied settings.
- Proficiency in research software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
