At Michaels Stores, we're seeking a highly skilled Framing Expert to join our team as a Creative Arts Director. This role is an exciting opportunity to lead and coach a team of framers in creating memorable framing solutions for our customers' art.

About the Job

We're offering a competitive salary of $65,000 per year, based on your experience and qualifications. In this role, you'll drive custom framing sales, assist customers in creating unique framing solutions, and develop and coach the team's selling behaviors.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of framers, focusing on building customer relationships and delivering high-quality custom framing solutions.
  • Drive custom framing sales by developing and executing sales strategies, managing inventory, and controlling shrink and safety programs.
  • Assist Store Manager in leading and managing adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs.

You'll also be responsible for:

  • Mentoring and coaching new team members, including interviewing, on-boarding, and performance management.
  • Participating in Talent Development activities and utilizing leadership competencies for continued self-development.
  • Serving as Manager on Duty (MOD), partnering with MODs daily on framing expectations, and interacting with others in an accepting and respectful manner.
  • Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs, ensuring a safe environment, and acknowledging customers, helping them locate products, and providing solutions.

In addition, you'll participate in truck unloading and stocking processes, ensuring truck standards are followed and completed within budget. You'll also follow company policies and procedures, promote commitment to the organization's vision and values, and project a positive image as a role model for others.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art History, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in custom framing, retail management, or sales leadership.
  • Prior experience in leading a sales team and managing inventory control.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy boxes and frames, access high shelves by ladder or similar equipment, and remain standing for long periods.
