Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist all stations and respective lines as necessary to ensure seamless kitchen operations.
  • Ensure that food items are fully stocked and equipment is in good working condition to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Implement proper food handling and storing procedures for leftover foods to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Contribute to the proper closing down of work stations to ensure a smooth transition between shifts.
  • Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure that all company recipes are followed, and food presentation is consistent and of high quality.

Working Conditions:

As a Prep Cook at Drift, you'll work in a fast-paced kitchen environment that requires adaptability and attention to detail. You'll be exposed to varying levels of heat and noise, and may be subject to hazards such as wet floors and heavy equipment. You'll need to be able to:

  • Operate in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
  • Inspect and maintain all areas for which you are responsible.
  • Review and comprehend all necessary documentation.
  • Use all equipment associated with the position, including choppers, slicers, mixers, and grinders.
  • Effectively and efficiently move around the work area.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Prepare a variety of meats, including veal, pork, beef, lamb, poultry, game, and seafood.

Job Qualifications:

To succeed as a Prep Cook at Drift, you'll need:

  • Knowledge of and ability to prepare stocks, soups, and mother sauces.
  • Maintenance of current serve-safe certification for Food & Safety.
  • Typically acquired through five years of progressive cooking experience, with a minimum of three years' experience in a dinner house, and/or through the completion of a culinary arts degree or recognized apprenticeship and 1 year dinner house cooking experience.

Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities:

In addition to the other duties described herein, each employee has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:

  • Attend required training sessions offered by the CBB/Drift.
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to the employee's department.
  • Consult Policies and Procedures Manuals for guidance.
  • Report suspicious activity to the appropriate levels of Management.
