Healthcare Professional for Weight Management and Diabetes

At the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, we are seeking a skilled Healthcare Professional to join our team in the Weight Management outpatient clinic. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients with obesity and diabetes.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly qualified individual who can provide exceptional patient care, manage a panel of patients independently, and collaborate with our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be expected to work 8 half-days per week in the Weight Management outpatient clinic, with clinics scheduled Monday-Friday in the morning, afternoon, or evening, and occasional Saturday clinics if needed.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical Expertise: Provide clinical expertise in areas of weight management, endocrinology, and diabetes, ensuring high-quality patient care and positive outcomes.
  • Patient Care: Function independently and/or as a member of an interdisciplinary team to plan, deliver, and evaluate healthcare for patients with weight management, diabetes, and endocrine diseases.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with nursing staff/nursing administration to monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care, ensuring adherence to universal precautions.
  • Nurse Practitioner Duties: Determine nursing care requirements, develop programs for weight management, endocrine/diabetes patients, promote health maintenance across the continuum of care, perform medical diagnostic procedures, prescribe medications when applicable, and document patient assessments and plans of care.
Qualifications
  • Licensure and Certification: Current licensure to practice nursing in Iowa, current certification in specialty area, and licensure as ARNP in the state of Iowa are required.
  • Education: A Master's degree in Nursing or a related field, with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing as a minimum requirement.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in clinical practice, preferably in weight management and diabetes, is highly desirable.
