Job Description

This is a highly responsible position that performs complex clerical and administrative work in the administration of City government. The position requires a high level of confidentiality, sound judgment, and skilled business practices.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as a custodian of official City records and public documents;
  • Prepares and maintains official municipal records;
  • Assists with Council and Committee meeting notices, agendas, minutes, and publications;
  • Attends and records official meetings for City Council and other required meetings;
  • Works with the City budget, audit, and other accounting functions associated with the Clerk's office;
  • Assists with special projects;
  • Responds to requests from the public, other City departments, federal and state organizations, and other municipalities.
Requirements

The ideal candidate must possess excellent organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of computer systems, social media skills, and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality are also essential.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, or a closely related field is desired, but not required. Accounting and financial knowledge/experience is also desirable. Individuals with equivalent work or life experiences and skill sets are encouraged to apply. Municipal Clerk certification or the ability to obtain it is highly desirable.
