Job Title: Principal Engineer

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for providing structural design of metal buildings and overseeing the research, development, and design of engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide accurate, easy-to-follow designs or guidance that meet code requirements, manufacturing constraints, and system deadlines.
  • Collaborate with production engineering teams to make informed decisions in alignment with business strategic plans.
  • Communicate needs and difficulties to Design Engineers and Detailers to assure quick disposition of technical challenges.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the engineering function.
  • Develop and maintain design practices used by production engineers and detailers.
  • Provide technical requirements for design tool development and maintenance.
  • Research building code changes and lead the effort in changing Engineering design approach accordingly.
  • Train and mentor less experienced Engineers.
  • Continually improve productivity, accuracy, and ability.
  • Protect the public by employing sound engineering judgement without being overly conservative in the approach.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or Structural Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of metal buildings industry or related industry experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Experience in industrials, manufacturing, and/or building products.
  • Solid knowledge of Engineering disciplines, process design tools, and procedures.
  • Ability to influence leadership to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and lead multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Good level of understanding of technology, digital solutions, & model base engineering.
  • Strong process improvement background.
  • Six Sigma Certification preferred.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong people management, performance management, and knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and engineering management.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Skilled in writing and presenting to senior management.
  • Exceptional PowerPoint and Excel skills.
  • Detail oriented.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 to $200,000 + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 and PTO.
