Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the FedEx Industrial maintenance of material handling systems. This position requires a high level of expertise in mechanical power transmission, electrical, and PLC/controls, as well as advanced welding and fabrication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Provides preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of material handling systems.
  • Adheres to all applicable safety standards and promotes a safe work environment.
  • Interprets data from various sources to determine the needs of the department and operation.
  • Diagnoses and repairs complex problems with material handling systems.
  • Responds to service calls to diagnose problems and make repairs.
  • Utilizes the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software to enter and retrieve prescribed data.
  • Mentors and assists lower-level technicians.
  • Develops scopes of work and project plans for small-scale projects.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Certificates in Industrial Maintenance/Mechatronics, electrical, or mechanical trade, or related area, and an associate degree in a related area preferred.
  • Six (6) years of experience, four (4) of those in FedEx Industrial Maintenance or external supporting similar material handling systems.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures as directed by work orders or management.
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, and repair problems using sound judgment and fact-based analysis.
  • Subject matter expertise in electrical, mechanical, and PLC/controls troubleshooting, repair, and installation.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Effective verbal and written communication within own department to peers, managers, and outside vendors.
Job Conditions

Will need to use hand tools and possibly power tools. May be working in hot or cold temperatures. May need to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and squat.

Pay

$36.75
