Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Specialist to join our team at the Justice, Bureau of Prisons/Federal Prison System. As a Recreation Specialist, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing recreational activities and programs for inmates. Your goal will be to create a safe and engaging environment that promotes physical, creative, and social development for our inmates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and develop recreational activities and programs for inmates, including team sports, individual activities, and special events.
  • Supervise and coordinate the operation of recreational facilities and equipment.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for recreational programs and activities.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the success of recreational programs and activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of recreational programs and activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Leisure Studies, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in recreation or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and adapt to changing situations.
Working Conditions

This position is located in a correctional facility and requires the ability to work in a secure environment. The Recreation Specialist will be required to wear a uniform and follow all facility rules and regulations.
