Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Software Developer Intern to join our team at CAI. As a Software Developer Intern, you will be responsible for developing and modifying software applications, analyzing user needs, designing and customizing software for clients, coding new features, debugging issues, writing testable code, developing documentation, collaborating on design specifications, and staying current on new technologies.


Key Responsibilities

Develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs of low complexity


  • Analyze user needs and develop software solutions
  • Design software or customize software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency
  • Code and modify applications, from layout to function
  • Develop new features, enhance, support, and maintain existing applications
  • Debug identified issues and provide solutions
  • Develop and support systems, solutions, components, and enhancements of low complexity
  • Code new functionality according to specifications
  • Write testable, efficient code by using software development best practices
  • Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedure and strategy
  • Assist in the development of documentation
  • Collaborate with others to determine design specifications and details
  • Stay current on new technologies and best practices

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong foundation in computer science and software development, as well as excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. You should also be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.


  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Development, or a related area
  • Current Junior with a 3.5 GPA or higher
  • Analytically minded
  • Experience with various programming languages
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to interact with cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming techniques
  • Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with relational databases
  • Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite
  • Self-starter

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, experience with .NET, SQL, and Visual Studio would be a plus.


Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards. The work is sedentary, involving sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc. The ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor is also required.
