Role Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering compassionate care to patients facing terminal illnesses. This role also involves providing support to families during home care situations and in times of grief, while collaborating with the Hospice team to ensure comprehensive care.
Qualifications for Registered Nurse:
- Active nursing license in the state of practice.
- Preferred minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
- Ability to work autonomously and make timely, accurate decisions.
- Capability to supervise and guide others effectively.
- Skill in responding to crises outside of a clinical environment.
- Open-mindedness towards diverse social, cultural, and religious backgrounds.
- Completion of a Hospice training program is mandatory.
Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse:
- Continuously evaluate and reassess the nursing needs of Hospice patients.
- Provide nutritional guidance and support.
- Administer nursing services, treatments, and preventive care.
- Initiate appropriate nursing procedures for patient safety and comfort.
- Monitor and report any significant changes in patients' physical or emotional states to the physician and interdisciplinary team.
- Educate and support patients and their families in care practices.
- Oversee and mentor other nursing staff.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary group to develop and adjust care plans to meet patient and family needs.
- Perform specific nursing tasks as directed by physician orders.
- Participate in team meetings and discussions.
- Maintain accurate records as required by Hospice protocols.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate with supervisors regarding any unmet patient needs or procedural challenges.
- Participate in the on-call system and provide coverage as needed.
- Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care.
- Manage work schedules effectively to attend necessary meetings.
- Follow infection control policies and procedures diligently.
- Assist with training and orientation as requested.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director.
