- Collaborating with local and international authorities to ensure that court orders, subpoenas, and customer data requests meet legal standards, jurisdictional requirements, and protect customer privacy.
- Identifying patterns in content misuse, updating leadership on the severity of issues, and advocating for necessary product modifications to avert future incidents.
- Designing and implementing organization-wide initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and quality while minimizing legal exposure for the company.
- Partnering with the Legal team to formulate guidelines and playbooks for our operational, product, sales, and engineering teams.
- Serving as the primary contact for incident management and customer escalations, while providing data support for critical situations.
- Fostering strong relationships with technical teams across engineering and infrastructure divisions.
- Gaining a comprehensive understanding of DigitalOcean's production environment, from applications to infrastructure, and staying informed about significant changes and future plans.
- Mentoring and guiding other skilled security professionals across application, information, and infrastructure security.
Expectations:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Trust and Safety, Law Enforcement Response, Emergency Response, Compliance, Privacy, or Risk Management.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Expertise in Law Enforcement Response or intellectual property law, with a solid understanding of relevant processes, policies, and customer implications.
- Proficient in assessing legal adequacy, validating claims, identifying harmful patterns, and assisting customers in promptly removing objectionable content.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems and command-line interfaces.
- Innovative problem-solving abilities, utilizing past experiences as references rather than strict rules.
- A genuine curiosity and self-drive to tackle complex tasks and navigate security challenges at scale, both reactively and proactively.
- A commitment to security and the well-being of employees, customers, and the online community.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing, presentations, coaching, and mentoring.
- Ability to give and receive clear, direct, and constructive feedback for ongoing improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- JD, Law Degree, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in coding, scripting, or automating problem-solving processes (Python, Bash, Go, SQL).
- Data analysis skills, including knowledge of relational databases, structured query languages, logging systems, and data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Grafana).
- Experience in troubleshooting, investigations, alert triage, or incident response in a technical role.
- Understanding of software, systems, and networking; familiarity with distributed computing, virtualization, databases, operating systems, and cloud technologies.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP concepts, network application protocols, and database structures.
