The Nursing Assistant serves as a caregiver to residents in a long-term care setting. This role provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The Nursing Assistant is responsible for delivering age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of residents as per the care plan.
Responsibilities- Provides assistance with basic health care needs, including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and obtaining and recording vital signs.
- Provides psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned residents.
- Assists residents with meals and snacks, provides water and supplements as appropriate.
- Aids providers and nursing staff members with procedures, if needed.
- Documents resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred.
- Minimum age of 16.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
- Satisfactorily completes yearly department-specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year.
