Job DescriptionThe Veterinary Doctor Assistant plays a vital role in providing high-quality medical support and administrative assistance to our Doctor Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting in the provision of medical care, collecting and documenting patient histories, and facilitating basic pet restraints to assist doctors with exams.
Responsibilities- Collect and document patient histories in SOAP
- Start estimates and review with owners based on DVM-recommended treatments
- Facilitate basic pet restraints to assist doctors with exams
- Communicate DVM-approved estimates to clients or OP liaisons
- Utilize and enter treatments into Smartflow for patient care
- Ensure diagnostics and treatments are started in a timely manner
- Document lab results, treatments, or other medical record details in SOAP as directed by the attending DVM
- Be proficient in using our veterinary practice-management software (EzyVet, SmartFlow, Timeless)
- Assist Client Administrators as necessary
- Attend staff and individual meetings as scheduled
- Greet incoming clients/patients and facilitate medical record paperwork/computer entry
- Participate in a positive manner in all group sizes
- Refrain from participating in gossip and lead by example
- Support team members by assisting other areas, being receptive to feedback and suggestions, and engaging in active problem-solving
- Experience equivalent to job duties and responsibilities
- Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
- Strong computer skills
- Strong ability to multi-task
- Strong work ethic and professionalism
- Able to properly restrain dog and cat patients for veterinary care and procedures
- Able to stand, sit, bend, restrain, squat for extended periods of time
- Able to function within a busy, stressful work environment in a mature, professional manner
- Able to lift 60 lbs in a safe manner
- Able to type, write, and verbally converse
- Able to work the posted schedule
