Overview of the Fixed Assets Accountant Role:

  • The Fixed Assets Accountant will be responsible for maintaining, analyzing, and verifying the accuracy of the Fixed Assets Account.
  • Evaluate actual versus budget variances.
  • Calculate depreciation for fixed assets and document in journal entries.
  • Create asset tags for identification purposes.
  • Update and maintain sales unit prices and Tooling Inventory List as required.
  • Reclassify journal entries from the Progress Account to the Fixed Assets Account.
  • Oversee asset discontinuations, transfers, disposals, and sales.
  • Prepare journal entries and reports, including Roll Forward and Capital Spending Plans.
  • Conduct quarterly internal audits of samples and inventory.
  • Assist external auditors by providing necessary data and support.
  • Collaborate closely with other accounting staff to ensure precision.
  • Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Help finalize the monthly journal entry file and account reconciliations.
  • Conduct physical inventory assessments for fixed assets.

Preferred Qualifications for the Fixed Asset Accountant:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Fixed Assets is essential.
  • Experience with manufacturing Fixed Assets is required.
  • Proficiency in Sage Accounting Software is highly preferred.
  • Experience with journal entries is necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail is crucial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • General accounting experience is beneficial.
