Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist

USA Health is a leading healthcare provider in the Gulf Coast region, and we are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to join our team.

Responsibilities
  • Abide by and enforce all compliance requirements and policies, performing duties in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values.
  • Utilize proper body mechanics when moving, positioning, and transferring patients, as well as when handling equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrate CPR according to American Heart Association standards and work assigned schedules, including overtime and call as required.
  • Perform a variety of related digital image management tasks, including exceptions, annotations, and maintaining competency in all imaging equipment and supplies.
  • Provide radiation protection to patients, family, staff, and self, according to prescribed safety standards.
  • Recognize emergency situations and initiate code procedures as needed, and perform patient assessment and screening within the scope of practice.
  • Review patient's prior imaging and history to ensure appropriate exams are ordered, consulting the Radiologist or ordering practitioner when needed.
  • Maintain aseptic or sterile technique when performing invasive procedures, directly assist the Radiologist during procedures, and perform c-arm procedures in OR and ancillary areas.
  • Administer IV contrast under the direction of the Radiologist or licensed practitioner, and review images and consult with radiologist when pathology seen may require protocol revision.
  • Accurately critique images to determine diagnostic quality and adjust factors if imaging is to be repeated, and adhere to established protocols, QA guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Pleasantly greet patients, confirming identity using two identifiers and introducing oneself, and communicate and use appropriate customer relation skills with patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team.
  • Completely explain examination procedure to the patient and family, if present, and perform visual preventive safety inspections of all equipment used and communicate problems to supervisor/assistant director/director.
  • Maintain necessary inventory of supplies, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items, and maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the department.
  • Complete all aspects of a patient's exam, including ensuring images are available for physician review on PACS in a timely manner, charging procedures and supplies, documenting contrast usage, and documenting history or additional notes.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and procedures, and maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and/or participating in professional societies.
  • Complete all mandatory educational requirements in a timely manner, and accept and complete all duties positively and without conflict.
  • Cooperate, help others, and improve the performance of the unit, participate on committees as assigned, participate in Performance Improvement activities as assigned, and participate in Quality Control activities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, successful completion of an approved course in Radiologic Technology, and registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Diagnostic Radiology within twelve months of employment.
