Exotic Animal Veterinarian Specialist

As an Exotic Animal Veterinarian, you will be part of a team that provides expert veterinary care to support the welfare of animals and their people through our stationary and mobile veterinary clinics. We serve the most underserved communities in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, helping pet owners overcome barriers to care and bringing quality services directly to the communities that need us most.
Responsibilities- Provide compassionate, quality preventive and basic care to patients, overseeing all aspects of veterinary care during a clinic day.
- Perform pre-surgery physical examinations on all surgical candidates.
- Perform high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgical procedures.
- Diagnose and treat post-surgical medical complications.
- Provide a safe and compassionate environment for animals in our care, our staff, and for our clients by using low-stress handling techniques.
- Triage and refer cases that do not fall within CM parameters of care as appropriate.
- Perform humane euthanasia in accordance with ASPCA policy and CM protocols.
- Provide support and medical services in special cases as needed, including evaluation and treatment of animals living in hoarding situations.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent).
- Current New York State veterinary license.
- Fear Free Veterinary certification is required within 60 days of hire.
- Experience in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter preferred.
- Experience in general small animal practice or shelter medicine preferred.
