Job Summary

The University of California, Santa Barbara is seeking a highly qualified Supervisor of Teacher Education to join our team. As a key member of our Teacher Education Program, you will be responsible for supervising Teacher Education Program students in practicum sites in elementary or secondary public schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Teacher Education Program students in practicum sites in elementary or secondary public schools.
  • Coordinate between UCSB coursework and practicum activities for TEP students and Cooperating Teachers.
  • Provide training and support for Cooperating Teachers at the school site.
  • Work in consultation with school personnel to identify classroom placements, promote growth in teaching practice, and resolve problems.
  • Meet regularly with TEP students and participate in TEP faculty meetings, curriculum development activities, and program and student evaluation activities.

Requirements:

  • Teacher certification in the State of California or equivalent at the time of application.
  • Minimum of three years experience as a lead public or private school classroom teacher at the time of application.
  • At least one quarter/semester experience in providing professional development services to teachers/educational personnel, OR at least one quarter/semester mentoring new teachers or pre-service teachers by the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience with classroom supervision of pre-service teachers.
  • Familiarity with the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP) and Teacher Performance Expectations (TPE).
  • Knowledge of current policies and effective practices in K-12 teaching.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (assessed on the CV, e.g., statement that candidate is bilingual in Spanish, teaching experience in a bilingual classroom).
  • Familiarity with edTPA or CalTPA.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
