Job Summary: Virginia State University is seeking qualified candidates for Adjunct Faculty positions in the College of Engineering and Technology. The successful candidate will teach courses in applied engineering technology, computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, and economics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach up to 9 credit hours per academic semester in-person, online via synchronous or asynchronous modalities
  • Provide regular office hours to meet student needs and promote student success
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies to engage students
  • Assess and align student outcomes within courses or programs
  • Stay current with emerging pedagogies and technologies in the field

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in the teaching field or a masters degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the teaching field
  • Proficiency to teach courses in applied engineering technology, computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, and economics
  • Effective and engaging teaching skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a culturally and educationally diverse student population
  • Proficiency and willingness to adapt to new and emerging pedagogies in the classroom

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching experience in a higher education environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in using instructional technologies and learning management systems
  • Ability to use technology to enhance the teaching and educational experience

Special Requirements:

  • Selected applicants will be subject to a background check as a condition of employment
  • Virginia State University is an Executive Level Branch agency
