Position Summary:

Under the guidance of the VP/Accounting Manager, this role is responsible for executing a diverse range of accounting tasks, financial analysis, and reporting, which necessitate the application of established accounting principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts daily assessments of financial operations, evaluates financial standing, and generates monthly reports for the board; assists with accounts payable duties.
  • Performs reconciliations and/or reviews of accounts and financial statements, including:
  1. Freddie Mac Accounts
  2. Prepaid Accounts
  3. Monthly internal bank account statements
  4. Federal Reserve Account
  5. Various correspondent bank accounts
  6. General Ledger Accounts
  • Submits reports and remittances to Freddie Mac.
  • Manages the opening and closing of brokered CDs.
  • Handles entries for Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) advances and interest payments.
  • Assists in preparing quarterly Call Reports and compiles reports for management, directors, and shareholders.
  • Thoroughly investigates inquiries and issues to ensure timely resolutions.
  • Supports payroll accounting functions.
  • Contributes to various corporate documents, including lease agreements, insurance policies, and financial reports.
  • Assists in the preparation of the monthly ALCO report package.
  • Generates assigned reports, including spreadsheets.
  • Maintains accurate records and information to promote ongoing efficiency.
  • Provides general clerical support for the department.
  • Engages in special projects as needed, completing various analyses and studies.
  • Complies with all State and Federal Banking Regulations.
  • Acts as a substitute in the absence of any Accounting Specialist or the VP/Accounting Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory duties.

Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Education and Experience: An associate or bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred; or two or more years of relevant experience in accounting; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence; capable of writing simple correspondence.
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficient in basic arithmetic operations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to follow detailed instructions.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Other Skills: Must be willing to work extended hours during month-end processing.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands required for this role include regular sitting, using hands for tasks, and occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
