Job Title: System Security Engineer

SciTec is seeking a highly skilled System Security Engineer to join our team in Boulder, CO. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing secure hardware and software solutions to protect critical mission technology.

Responsibilities:
  • Derive system-level requirements into component and subsystem requirements, identifying hardware details for integrating security controls.
  • Identify, review, and define security requirements that enable technical architects and systems engineers to secure hardware and software products.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and holistic systems security engineering view while addressing stakeholder security risks and concerns through the application of systems engineering skills.
  • Create a culture of security that implements security from the beginning of a program's development and supports the implementation of security by default.
  • Communicate with chief engineers and program managers on the needs of the security engineering team and support the development process, working with the engineering organization to identify security engineering issues and flaws that need to be remediated.
  • Facilitate briefings to senior leadership and subject matter experts on program protection and security policy, guidance, and expectation in the area of hardware security engineering.
  • Provide and communicate understanding of both the technical and programmatic aspects of a project to the project team and the customer.
  • Ensure the effectiveness and suitability of the security elements within the systems as an enabler to mission success.
  • Design and develop detailed security designs using recognized practices such as model-based systems engineering tools and processes.
  • Develop, review, and recommend security policy, guidance, training, and best practices that align with its implementation across the mission acquisition lifecycle.
  • Review and provide recommendations on program protection plans and other acquisition and requirements documentation oversight for appropriate inclusion and application of systems security engineering policy and guidance.
  • Develop and execute a systems security engineering plan containing a path to creating threat countermeasure tree analysis.
  • Efficiently learn new subjects, techniques, and software without necessarily requiring assistance from others.
  • Have a track record of highly collaborative working skills in a team environment.
  • Write clear and concise reports.
  • Utilize and develop mathematical software tools.
  • Interface with program managers, mission assurance managers, program engineers, and customers.
  • Use strong presentation skills to convey security mission risks at program milestone reviews.
  • Participate as a member of the mission assurance team to select, evaluate, and document security requirements for various missions, including space, military, and airborne.
  • Support other tasks and areas of subject matter expertise, including the trusted and assured microelectronics program, anti-tamper, and software security assurance, with design engineering subject matter expertise as required.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, strategic business units, strategic capabilities units, and the company, interacting appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of professional experience performing related duties.
  • A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, solid communication and presentation skills, and the ability to lead group discussions.
  • Department of Defense (DoD) / Intelligence Community (IC) experience, with a demonstrated understanding of how engineering and security work within the DoD / IC.
  • Secure hardware integration experience, including hardened memory, secure FPGA/SOC/ASIC, PCB layout, etc.
  • Proven work experience designing and integrating hardware security solutions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of hardware design impacts to firmware, gateware, and software.
  • Experience developing threat analysis.
  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Criteria:
  • Experience designing to TEMPEST product requirements.
  • Cross-Domain Solution integration experience.
  • Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) experience.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
  • Previous experience in the field of cybersecurity.

The pay range for this position is $125,000-$182,000/year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills. This is not a guarantee of compensation.
