Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate comprehensive estimates based on project specifications, blueprints, and other relevant documentation, ensuring accurate quantity take-offs for the fabrication and erection of structural and miscellaneous steel, including stairs and railings.
  • Calculate work hour unit rates for each estimate item to determine total direct work hours.
  • Assist in obtaining quotes from suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturers.
  • Manage and distribute bid documents effectively.
  • Identify project needs related to weather protection, cranes, hoists, and other essential services.
  • Evaluate project locations and their productivity implications.
  • Review labor costs and necessary licensing requirements.
  • Ensure all bid forms are completed accurately and submitted on time.
  • Conduct bid review meetings with management to finalize estimates.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in estimating for structural and miscellaneous steel projects.
  • Experience with competitive bids up to $5M is preferred.
  • Proficiency in FabSuite/Tekla and Bluebeam is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of AISC standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of steel fabrication and erection practices, processes, and their effects on project execution.
  • Familiarity with best practices in estimating.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Professional demeanor, ethical standards, and a collaborative spirit.
