Home Health Care Assistant

The Home Health Aide provides various personal care and related paraprofessional services in accordance with an established plan of care. The primary responsibility is to provide for the personal needs and comfort of clients in their homes.
Essential Functions- Adhere to Morgantown Area Private Duty, LLC Right at Home policies and procedures.
- Perform work under the supervision of a nurse supervisor.
- Perform personal care activities contained in a written assignment by the nurse supervisor, including but not limited to:
- Assisting with activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, ambulation, eating, dressing, and shaving.
- Meal preparation.
- Performing other assigned activities that are taught by a Registered Nurse for a specific client.
- Assisting with the change of ostomy appliances.
- Reinforcement of dressings (non-sterile).
- Assisting with the use of devices for aid to daily living (cane, walker, wheelchair or lift device).
- Assisting with prescribed range of motion exercises.
- Assisting with self-administered simple urine tests for sugar acetone or albumin (Home Health Aide may not interpret results).
- Measuring and preparing special diets.
- Measuring intake and output.
- Taking vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations and blood pressure).
- Application of an external (condom-type) catheter.
- Assist with application of arm sling, arm splint or leg splint.
- Other duties assigned by Supervisor.
A high school graduate or G.E.D. certificate is preferred. A minimum of three (3) months full-time Personal Care Assistant or relative experience in healthcare (in homes or facilities) and successful completion of a state-approved Certified Nurse Aide or Home Health Aide course are required. The Certified Nursing Assistant shall have successfully completed a Competency Evaluation that meets the State licensing law for home health agencies. Current CPR Certificate is also required.
Working EnvironmentPrimarily works a certain number of hours or shifts in clients' place of residence, travel required. Shift times and days vary with client needs.
