Position Overview:
As a Respiratory Care Specialist at Merit Health Biloxi, you will be essential in delivering exceptional care to our patients.

Role Responsibilities:
  • The Respiratory Care Specialist is tasked with administering pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic interventions related to respiratory care protocols as directed by medical professionals.
  • Work schedules may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays (12-hour shifts).
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of an Associate's degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program is mandatory. Experience in acute Respiratory Therapy Services is preferred.
  • Certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is required.
  • A valid Respiratory Therapist License issued by the state of Mississippi is necessary.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required (NRP and PALS must be obtained within 90 days of employment).
  • Proficiency in managing Ventilators, High Flow Oxygen, and BiPAP machines is essential.
  • Experience with Cerner charting is advantageous.
  • A positive attitude and effective time management skills are crucial.
Key Duties:
  • Assist in diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with respiratory conditions.
  • Collect and analyze sputum, blood, and breath samples to assess levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, observations, and monitoring of patients' responses to respiratory treatments and diagnostic evaluations.
  • Recommend and initiate suitable respiratory care procedures based on identified abnormalities, implementing changes in treatment as per physician directives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient and effective patient care delivery to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Possess the capability to assess and initiate emergency interventions when necessary.
