JOB SUMMARY:

Professionals in the Software Development domain collaborate closely with clients, business analysts, and team members to comprehend the business requirements that drive the analysis, design, and development of effective technical solutions.

Software Engineers are engaged throughout the entire systems life cycle, taking responsibility for designing, coding, testing, implementing, and supporting applications that meet project timelines and budget constraints.

Additional responsibilities may encompass participation in component and data architecture design, technology planning, product evaluation, troubleshooting, advanced testing processes, and recommendations on whether to build or buy solutions.

Software Engineers may also leverage various middleware to create integrated solutions.

They contribute to project plans related to Software Development initiatives, developing cohesive solutions that integrate existing applications, legacy systems, databases, web interfaces, and hardware logic to address new and evolving enterprise requirements.

Software Development professionals possess a robust understanding of the programming languages utilized by the organization and may have expertise in object-oriented design, coding, and debugging.

They have experience in systems design and a solid grasp of development, database development, testing, and integration methodologies.

Knowledge of current and emerging IT products, services, and processes is essential.

Software Engineers may operate as individual contributors, team members, or technical team leaders, providing client support, consultation, and subject matter expertise for software development, maintenance, and support.

COMPLEXITY:

Advanced Professional Level: Works on significant projects as a lead developer, offering subject matter expertise and technical guidance.

Engages in projects of higher complexity or risk that span a wide range of systems or technologies, potentially impacting the entire system.

Requires expertise in multiple technical environments and a heightened level of business acumen, along with an advanced understanding of specific software platforms, languages, and frameworks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accountable for providing technical leadership in the analysis, design, development, integration, testing, and enhancement of software, applications, or middleware. Actively involved in researching, troubleshooting, or resolving complex support issues. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Consulting in the project planning process with clients, business analysts, architects, and team members. Monitoring project milestones and critical dates to identify potential risks to the project schedule. Proposing solutions to resolve scheduling issues and keeping management informed of project progress and status.
  • Leading the technical evaluation and selection process for software or middleware packages. Supporting any necessary communication and training for the successful adoption of selected tools or software.
  • Providing insights for build vs. buy recommendations. Researching the feasibility or availability of custom, open-source, and commercial (COTS) solution alternatives. Offering input on system options, risks, cost versus benefits, and impacts on business processes and objectives.
  • Proactively analyzing existing applications to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for enhancements. Initiating the identification, analysis, implementation, communication, and adoption of technical process improvements to benefit the team, including recognizing potential for streamlining or automation of existing processes.
