Job Title: Telecom Network Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Telecom Network Architect to join our team at the City of Atlanta, GA. As a key member of our Aviation Services team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing the fiber optic communication infrastructure networks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, develop, and manage the fiber optic communication infrastructure networks
  • Prepare and review comprehensive plans for the Airport, project plans, contracts, and specifications
  • Supervise the engineering and installation of pathways, telecommunication rooms, backbone cabling, and horizontal cabling to meet or exceed EIA/TIA industry standards
  • Collaborate with Airport staff, engineers, developers, utility representatives, and contractors
  • Conduct engineering, placing, splicing, and terminating single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables
  • Conduct tests with various cable testing and analytical tools, including Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), fiber cable radius, routing specifications, and network synchronization
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis)
  • 4-5 years' of telecom experience
  • Preferred qualifications include knowledge of CAT5, CAT6 data cabling, Coax-Cable TV installs, Fiber Optics, Wireless Local Area Networks and Telecommunications Systems, Local Area Networks, Interfaces into WAN technologies & DWDM, and Avaya Cisco VoIP Telephone system & cabling infrastructure
