Job Title: Mental Health Treatment Aide

NYC Health + Hospitals is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Treatment Aide to join our team in Correctional Health Services. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide crisis and de-escalation interventions, therapeutic observations, and individual and group engagements to individuals incarcerated in the New York City jail system.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize crisis and de-escalation intervention practices to support clients with complex behavioral needs.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to identify client characteristics and environmental variables that may trigger agitated behavior.
  • Perform client checks and rounds, complete MH Rounds forms, and report observations and interactions to the interdisciplinary team.
  • Communicate pertinent clinical matters in real-time to assigned supervisors or other professional staff.
  • Support medication administration and provide additional support to patients during escort.
  • Participate in staff, departmental, and team meetings to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance and performance improvement activities to drive excellence in care.
  • Lead or co-lead discussion and treatment groups, documenting group activity as required.

Requirements:

  • An Associate's degree in a relevant field, or a High School diploma and one year of experience in a high-volume, intensive care environment.
  • Successful completion of training programs in restraints and seclusion, vital signs, and grooming.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
