Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Retail Store Team Member to join our team at Michaels Stores. As a Retail Store Team Member, you will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of overall look and feel of the store, delivering friendly customer service, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for customers and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain store cleanliness and recovery standards to deliver our Brand Promises.
  • Deliver friendly customer service and help customers shop our store.
  • Collect and dispose of trash following approved procedures.
  • Dust and damp mop floors following approved procedures.
  • Moves equipment and products for proper cleaning and places products back in correct placement.
  • Cleans assigned areas with the use of assigned materials and equipment.
  • May require mixing water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
  • Deep clean key areas of the store, including bathrooms, breakrooms, entry ways, and other high traffic areas.
  • Must keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly; notify supervisor of supply needs in advance for replenishment.
  • Seeks out areas requiring cleaning; takes initiative to complete the task.
  • Completes all tasks assigned by supervisor.
  • Performs tasks in accordance with all federal, state, and county guidelines.
  • Maintain positive and respectful interactions with both team members and customers, even in difficult situations.
  • Project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Retail and/or cleaning experience preferred.
Work Environment

The work environment is a public retail store setting, with all public areas being climate controlled. Some stock rooms may not be climate controlled, and some outdoor work may be required to retrieve shopping carts or unload trucks.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to move throughout the store.
  • Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
  • Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.
