Position Overview:

We are in search of a dedicated and highly skilled Lead Systems Engineer to become a vital part of our innovative and expanding team.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid track record in delivering expert-level technical guidance to software engineering teams throughout the product development and design processes.

We are looking for an individual with extensive experience in Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE, NMEA 2000, and CAN Bus networking for embedded and internet-connected devices.

The successful candidate will be prepared to assume a senior architectural role within our product networking framework and will be eager to quickly grasp other components of our technology stack.

Proficient experience with embedded software methodologies across various microcontrollers utilizing Linux and RTOS operating systems is essential. Previous exposure to sonar and digital/analog signal processing will be considered a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert-level technical direction for the software engineering team throughout the development and design phases, while also offering technical support to other business units within the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to foster synergy and alignment.
  • Investigate advanced technologies in the marketplace, monitor industry technology trends, and spearhead new product development initiatives. Identify and execute research projects that support new product development efforts.
  • Engage in diverse projects, serve as a technical lead and mentor, guiding engineers throughout the project lifecycle, and resolving critical technical challenges encountered.
  • Offer expertise throughout the product lifecycle, from initial concept to a market-ready product.
  • Oversee and direct prototype generation, assessing prototype design, functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Ensure that all products have comprehensive written specifications and adhere to specification requirements.
  • Review and document technical feasibility assessments, qualification, field, and competitive testing to verify design appropriateness and compliance.
  • Communicate testing results and necessary corrective actions, following up to ensure adherence to the corrective action plan.
  • Develop and implement best practices, processes, and improvements for the engineering team related to product design, documentation, and testing.
  • Introduce new tools and techniques to enhance and streamline new product development. Organize, facilitate, and/or conduct training on new software packages and development methodologies.
  • Provide input and guidance on product and technology roadmaps. Advise on resource gaps and requirements to execute against these roadmaps.
  • Ensure successful implementation and resolution of post-launch issues. Address complex technical inquiries and resolve intricate problems that have a broad impact on the organization.
  • Offer career mentorship and team leadership to select senior software engineers.

Additional Information:

A Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field is required.

This position may involve periodic travel between various engineering offices and other locations as necessary. Occasional travel to trade shows, vendor sites, and manufacturing facilities may also be required.
