Radiation Oncology Specialist

As a Radiation Therapist with Mount Sinai Health System, you will deliver therapeutic radiation in accordance with prescriptions and instructions provided by a Radiation Oncologist. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy of dosage and eliminating errors. Your expertise will be utilized to take and interpret port-images to determine accuracy and ensure that images are reviewed and approved by a Radiation Oncologist. You will also prepare treatment rooms and equipment for patients, including immobilization devices, field parameters, and beam shaping.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver therapeutic radiation in accordance with prescriptions and instructions provided by a Radiation Oncologist.
- Ensure accuracy of dosage and eliminate errors.
- Take and interpret port-images to determine accuracy and ensure image review and approval by a Radiation Oncologist.
- Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for patients, including immobilization devices, field parameters, and beam shaping.
- Explain procedures and setup patients for treatment.
- Observe and report changes in patient's condition to a Radiation Oncologist or radiation therapy nurse.
- Record treatment administered in patient's charts and record/verify system.
- Perform chart check and report any discrepancies.
- Perform daily QA and safety check as required by regulations.
- Maintain equipment in safe and good working condition.
- Report defects or deficiencies for adjustment and repair to the chief technologist and/or medical physicist.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of AMA approved school in radiation therapy.
- One year experience in clinical therapeutic radiation therapy. Clinical rotation in approved schools can be considered for the experience.
- NYS Radiation Therapist License.
