Job Description

At Horrocks, we are seeking a skilled Transportation Engineer to lead our team in designing and analyzing freeway and highway systems. This role requires a strong understanding of transportation engineering principles and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, design engineers, and technicians to deliver high-quality projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and analysis of freeways, interstate highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared-use trails
  • Prepare studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects
  • Coordinate and work with project teams to successfully complete projects
  • Lead project teams in the design, modification, analysis, and constructability of water systems
  • Coordinate meetings with project stakeholders and clients
  • Assist in proposal preparation and coordinate with office management and other project managers to share resources
  • Interface with clients, including state and local agencies
  • Work on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving engineering and construction-related issues
  • Prepare, review, and/or approve proposals, contracts, or cost estimates
  • Negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with sub-consultants and clients
  • Lead efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • 8+ years experience with plan preparation procedures and standards
  • 8+ years experience in Transportation
  • Professional Civil Engineering certification (P.E.)
  • Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other applicable software common to the field of transportation engineering
  • Hydraulics and traffic experience is a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Possess a proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff, and management
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills
