Staff Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Accountant to join our team at Jobot. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a critical role in managing and analyzing our company's financial data, ensuring that our finances run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and timely financial records, including balance sheets, profit/loss statements, and other financial reports.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities, including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts, coordination and completion of annual audits, and review of financial reports/support as necessary.
  • Analyze and report on financial status, including income statement variances, and communicate financial results to management.
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions to ensure compliance with state revenue service, federal, and state requirements.
  • Oversee inventory control, monitoring and evaluating inventory management procedures to ensure they are effective and efficient.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, reporting variances back to management.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role in the mortgage industry.
  • Expertise in reconciliations and inventory control.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly in MS Excel, and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles, laws, and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, but also as part of a team.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
