Essential Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Practice Nurse
Educational Background: Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the State of Texas; Master's degree is mandatory.
Licenses and Certifications:
Licensed to practice professional nursing in Texas. APRN licensure in Texas with eligibility for full prescriptive authority; may include specialties such as CRNA, CNM, CNS, CNP. National certification recognized by the Texas State Board in the relevant population focus and/or additional specialty acknowledgment beyond the APRN. Eligibility for DEA licensure. Basic Cardiac Life Support or Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.Physician Assistant
Educational Background: Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant program; Master's degree is highly preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners. Eligibility for DEA licensure. Basic Cardiac Life Support or Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Preferred two (2) years of clinical experience in the relevant practice area.Key Responsibilities
Engages in health promotion and the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patient conditions, utilizing both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, while addressing patient and family needs throughout the health continuum as part of an interdisciplinary team. For prescriptive authority, the APRN or PA operates under the supervision of a physician, maintaining an active Prescriptive Authority agreement in compliance with regulations and policies. Adheres to established protocols, guidelines, clinical pathways, and evidence-based practices. Conducts comprehensive medical histories; performs physical examinations; reviews, orders, and interprets diagnostic tests and imaging results; formulates and manages patient treatment plans and outcomes; provides interventions and performs procedures within the legal scope and authority granted to the APRN or PA, including but not limited to incision and drainage, pelvic examinations, lesion removal/destruction, suturing, and casting/splinting. Collaborates in the development and evaluation of patient care, updates clinical guidelines/protocols/pathways, works autonomously while accepting accountability for outcomes, signs orders in accordance with institutional and state board requirements, and participates in research and educational initiatives. Utilizes effective interpersonal and communication skills to educate patients and families about care resources; engages in process improvement and multidisciplinary clinical outcome enhancement activities using advanced nursing expertise. Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; complies with all organizational policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary constraints, including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service. Promotes personal professional growth and development by fulfilling requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports departmental goals that contribute to the organization's success; serves as a preceptor, mentor, and resource for less experienced staff. Demonstrates a commitment to caring for every community member by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Exemplifies the organization's service standards by delivering safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues. Performs other duties as assigned.-
