Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role involves overseeing a portfolio of cases related to the Connecticut Foreclosure Complaint Drafting, Mediation Program, and Short Calendar proceedings. Responsibilities include preparing for and participating in mediation and short calendar sessions, maintaining communication with clients and colleagues regarding case progress, and contributing to case strategy. Additional court appearances and document preparation related to Complaint Drafting, Mediation, and all facets of Foreclosure are expected, necessitating a high degree of preparation and expertise. Collaboration with a team of attorneys and paralegals is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advises clients on legal matters by conducting thorough reviews of each case and applicable laws, including providing detailed explanations of the mediation program and foreclosure process.
  • Keeps clients informed about developments in their cases.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with clients through regular communication and addressing their needs.
  • Achieves work objectives by guiding legal assistants, monitoring case progress, and drafting various legal documents including memoranda, correspondence, motions, pleadings, and affidavits.
  • Exhibits strong character and a positive demeanor as essential traits.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Adapts quickly to changing tasks and priorities as required.
  • Attends court and mediation sessions throughout Connecticut.
  • Writes, reviews, and edits reports, opinions, and other documents to ensure compliance.
  • Performs additional duties as necessary.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of state and local laws, with the ability to analyze court orders, rules, statutes, and case law, typically acquired through a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and relevant work experience.
  • Must hold membership in the State Bar of Connecticut.
  • Professional appearance and positive representation of the firm are required.
  • Independent travel to court and mediation sessions is necessary.
  • Ability to manage cases autonomously.
