Job Title: Associate General Counsel, Real Estate

Building and Land Technology (BLT) is a leading real estate private equity, development, and property management firm based in Stamford, CT. We are seeking an experienced Associate General Counsel to join our team and play a critical role in managing legal matters related to our real estate business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal oversight and support for commercial leasing activities, including drafting and negotiating lease agreements, amendments, and related documents.
  • Review and draft various real estate contracts, including purchase agreements, lease agreements, and development agreements.
  • Oversee due diligence processes for real estate transactions, including title examinations, environmental assessments, and zoning reviews.
  • Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to real estate and ensure the company's operations are in compliance.
  • Manage and oversee real estate-related litigation, including disputes with clients, tenants, contractors, and other parties.
  • Assist with property acquisitions, dispositions, and financing transactions, ensuring all legal aspects are properly addressed.
  • Support corporate governance activities, including board meetings, compliance reporting, and other legal corporate matters.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar and license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • 3-5 years of relevant legal experience in real estate law, conveyancing, financing, easement, environmental, and zoning experience or supervising outside counsel experience preferred.
  • Local area knowledge (Fairfield County) required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
