GENERAL PURPOSE

The role involves supporting the educational framework by addressing the individual health requirements of students. Responsibilities include executing health care plans as directed by medical professionals, ensuring compliance with health regulations pertaining to student health matters, and providing immediate care for students who are ill, medically fragile, or injured. The position also serves as a health resource for educators, staff, and administrators, conducting required health assessments, identifying health concerns for referral, and promoting overall wellness among students and staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Conduct mandated health screenings and provide appropriate care for students who are ill, medically fragile, or injured.
  • Administer first aid, medications, and specialized medical treatments as necessary.
  • Evaluate situations involving student safety and health-related issues, ensuring proper referrals and compliance with legal standards.
  • Collaborate with parents, students, healthcare providers, and public agencies to secure necessary health services.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for students, addressing their specific health needs.
  • Assist with student enrollment processes, including immunizations and medical history documentation.
  • Maintain accurate student health records within the student information system.
  • Ensure confidentiality of student health files while complying with legal and professional standards.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding changes in student health and recommend further medical intervention when necessary.
  • Monitor students with chronic conditions, addressing immediate health concerns and facilitating follow-up care.
  • Order and manage health care supplies and equipment, ensuring availability for student needs.
  • Participate in meetings and workshops to share information regarding student health needs and improve service delivery.
  • Prepare documentation and reports related to health services and student care.
  • Provide training on health-related topics to promote healthy lifestyles among students and staff.
  • Refer students needing additional medical attention and ensure follow-up services are provided.
  • Report health and safety concerns to the appropriate administrator and agencies.
  • Research health topics to provide accurate information to staff, students, and parents.
  • Respond to emergency medical situations with appropriate care and follow-up actions.
  • Address inquiries from parents, students, and staff, providing guidance and resolving issues.
  • Act as a liaison among healthcare providers, parents, and community agencies to ensure continuity of care.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience with increasing responsibilities.
Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required.
  • Must possess a valid Missouri State Nursing License.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Background Clearance is mandatory.
